Her Story

About Muge

I fell into the events industry about 25 years ago, right out of college in 1999. My brother's friend was looking for someone to fill an inside sales role at Key 3 Media, and I landed the position doing sponsorship sales for large trade shows. I loved it immediately - the travel, meeting high-level executives, networking - it was so fun and I felt so fortunate. After that company folded two years later, I moved to another event organizer where I stayed for about 7 years doing similar large trade shows. Then I relocated to New York City and worked for a smaller organization doing more intimate events like dinners and conferences with about 100 executives, working directly for the CEO for 5 years until he sold the company. I moved back to Boston and worked for another event organizer doing one-to-one meetings, but I felt the model wasn't good and they weren't delivering on the product. It was very male-dominated - there was not one woman leader at my last company in over 10 years. When I interviewed elsewhere, the arrogance rubbed me the wrong way, and I realized I could do this better myself. So at the start of the pandemic in 2020, while pregnant with my second child, I decided to branch off and launch C Vision International. We started with virtual events in early 2021, and I used my connections and the trust I'd established over 20 years to build the business. Today we have about 100 employees across offices in Lisbon, Kosovo, and India, and we work with top companies like Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Palo Alto. We made the Inc. 5000 list at number 1,554, and we've doubled in revenue each year, with 70% growth last year.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

It's about relationships at the end of the day. Connecting people and making sure that they have a good experience - that's honestly one of the reasons I decided to branch off on my own. I think having a platform for women to connect is so important. The empowerment and supporting each other is crucial. I was in a sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and I just felt like having that part of my life, meeting powerful women and still being in touch with them and supporting their journeys, has always been so important to me. We do a Woman in Tech event every year, and it's so powerful - women were crying, sharing stories. It was just a great forum for these women to come and support each other and share their stories. In cybersecurity and IT, less than 25% are women, so we're trying to bump that up and keep supporting each other.
