Her Story

About Myesha

I've been in project management for about four years and currently serve as a Business and Operations Specialist with Pantheon Data, where I've been working as a government contractor for the past three years.

Before this role, I spent about two years in mortgage compliance - work I was doing while completing my degree in Communications. That degree really shaped the way I approach project management, particularly when it comes to communication and team building.

I also spent eight years working in retail at Food Lion in North Carolina, and honestly, that experience was foundational for me. It's where I developed my leadership skills, learned how to problem-solve on the fly, and got comfortable navigating conflict resolution. Beyond the professional skills, that time helped me build a community and grow as a person. I was in college, moved to a new area, and retail gave me roots while I was finding my footing.

One of my proudest achievements came in November 2025, when I was honored by the United States Coast Guard 5PW division for my work on the ICE PACT project. Being formally recognized by an Admiral while being in the contracting sector is genuinely rare, so that acknowledgment meant the world to me; it really validated the hard work and dedication I pour into my job.

In 2023, I made the move from North Carolina to the DMV, which was a significant step for me personally. I grew up in a very small town where leaving, let alone pursuing higher education - wasn't always the norm. Getting out and building the career I have has been something I don't take for granted.

Ten minutes with Myesha

01What do you attribute your success to?

At the core of my success are my faith and my family. Both have been incredible support systems, and I honestly don't know where I'd be without them. My family has always shown up for me, and my faith has been my anchor through some of life's hardest moments.

That was especially true when I lost my father while I was working on my master's degree. He was always one of my biggest cheerleaders when it came to furthering my education, and while it breaks my heart that he didn't get to see me earn that second degree, I know he would be so proud.

Growing up in a very small town where many people stay close to home, enter straight into the workforce after high school, or not continuing their education, makes the path I've taken feel even more meaningful. Venturing out, moving from North Carolina to the DMV in 2023, and really opening myself up to what the world has to offer has been one of the most defining decisions of my life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Invest in yourself whether it be time or money, you're always worth the commitment. Whether it’s a degree, learning how to play an instrument, or simply brushing up on my leadership skills through Udemy, I’m constantly pouring back into myself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Make your voice known. I think a lot of times we shrink ourselves down because we want to be seen as easygoing or soft-spoken but to truly navigate this field, you have to be willing to take up space. You have to speak up, because you never know who's in the room, and you never know what gaps exist that your knowledge could fill. Simply sharing what you know can make a bigger impact than you realize.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of my biggest opportunities on the horizon is completing my PMP exam. I'm incredibly grateful that my company has enough confidence in my abilities to sponsor it, that kind of support means a lot.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, discipline, individuality, and equality. These four values show up in every corner of my life, but they are especially central to both my work and who I am personally. For me, it's important that my core beliefs aren't something I leave at the door; they travel with me everywhere.
