Her Interview
Ten minutes with Myra
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to life experiences and circumstances. I lost my dad at a young age to a violent crime, which sparked my passion for criminal justice. Through my spirituality, I was able to turn that grief into something positive, giving back to society, leading, encouraging, and inspiring others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice is to always remain open, always be teachable. Always put yourself in a position to learn more and to develop. Never get complacent even after many years in a job. Knowledge is power, and the more you learn, the more you build your skill set to make yourself unique.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always be professional, courteous, and respectful. Interact with people from all walks of life with dignity, respect, kindness, and empathy. Uphold integrity and humility regardless of achievements. Treat everyone on the same level without superiority. Be genuine because people can see and feel authenticity.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is finding individuals who are truly passionate about the work. Many have lost a sense of work ethic, quality, and dependability. People often take jobs just for a paycheck without connection or purpose. There should be meaning, purpose, and passion behind what we do.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, dignity, respect, being genuine, compassion, and empathy are most important. I treat everyone with humility and on the same level, showing genuineness that people can feel.
