About Myra
I've been in my field for almost 3 years. I transitioned from being a music teacher for about 10 years on and off, then to HR, and now customer service representative in healthcare at Carrot Club. I handle member services calls about insurance benefits, finding doctors, and home healthcare services. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in general psychology with emphasis in industrial organizational psychology while working full time and raising my son.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Myra
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to seeing the success of students and making sure they are taken care of, as well as seeing the joy on people's faces when they receive free food from volunteering. Building relationships with people makes a difference.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
It's not about what you know, it's who you know. It's about creating and building relationships, and people that make a difference.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Take a deep breath and don't take things personally. If people are upset, it's not you, it's them. Allow them to be heard and just not take things personally.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Positivity is most important. Always look at the bright side, the glass half full instead of half empty. Make the most of things even when obstacles come your way.
