Her Story
About Myrna
I've been in the insurance field for over 25 years, working as a customer service sales rep at State Farm. My typical day involves checking emails to verify if there are any questions about insurance, reviewing policies, looking for discount opportunities, doing quotes, and assisting with everything from claims department connections to homeowner questions. I try to be the expert at everything and handle multiple responsibilities. What got me interested in selling insurance was my experience working face-to-face with clients and my passion for teaching people how important it is to have insurance. Before moving to Florida and entering insurance, I worked as a receptionist at a company that built elevators, where I was the person on the other end when someone pressed the red button after getting stuck. Throughout my career, helping and assisting people has always been at the core of what I do. My most notable professional achievement is being able to handle my day-to-day roles as a State Farm Insurance sales rep while also managing my personal life as a wife, mother, and caretaker of my mother, and still having time to see friends and help others.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Start with God, listen to what the gospel tells you, be patient, always be humble, and always care for others. It's not just that you have a job to do, it's that you are here to do something, and we are all unique. No matter what career you decide to do, there's always a reason why God is teaching us to help out others. If you help out others, God will remember that, and you will be helped by Him. It's all a boomerang - whatever you give out, you'll get back somehow. Sometimes we don't understand what's happening or why things are put our way, but there's a reason why we're put in a certain way.
