Her Story

About Myrna

Myrna Mirville is a seasoned health insurance professional with over 26 years of experience navigating virtually every facet of the industry. She launched her career in 1998 as a Customer Service Representative at Prudential Healthcare in New Jersey, where she developed a strong command of insurance plan structures and client relations. From there, she expanded her expertise through progressive roles at AIG — moving from underwriting into sales assistance, marketing, and large group account management, overseeing high-profile clients such as Johnson & Johnson. That deliberate, ground-up progression gave her an intimate understanding of the industry from multiple vantage points, ultimately fueling her transition into sales and her current role as a New Business Specialist at ExtensisHR, where she focuses on identifying new market opportunities and helping small employers access quality health coverage.

Myrna's professional growth has been deeply shaped by mentorship, continuous learning, and a commitment to giving back to her field. The guidance of industry mentor Barbara Cooley proved pivotal in her decision to pursue sales — a goal she celebrated in 2008 by purchasing her first convertible, a personal milestone that symbolized what dedication and perseverance could achieve. She further strengthened her professional standing through her active involvement with the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), Ocean Chapter, where she served as both Treasurer and Board Member. Her academic foundation in Business, Management, and Marketing from Monmouth University, combined with her hands-on expertise in rate negotiation, account strategy, and ancillary insurance, has positioned her as a trusted and versatile leader in her field.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Myrna is equally devoted to community and wellness. She serves as the leader of the women's department at her local church, where she curates events designed to address mental health and holistic well-being. Among her most notable initiatives is the "Whole for the Holidays" program, which brings together mental health professionals and wellness experts to support women during one of the most emotionally demanding seasons of the year. Myrna's career is a testament to the power of relationship-building, lifelong learning, and purposeful service — both within the insurance industry and in the broader community she so passionately uplifts.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Myrna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the meaningful relationships I built throughout my career — with sales representatives, underwriters, and mentors who genuinely invested in my growth. One of the most influential people in my journey was Barbara Cooley, whose guidance and example inspired me to pursue a career in sales. Beyond mentorship, my progression through multiple roles — from sales assistant to marketing representative to account manager — gave me a well-rounded foundation that prepared me to excel as a sales representative and, later, to mentor others coming up in the industry.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Continuous learning and professional development have always been at the core of who I am. I've invested deeply in my training in sales and have proudly served as both Treasurer and Board Member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), Ocean Chapter. Service is equally important to me — in my personal life, I lead the women's department at my local church, where I organize events centered on mental health and wellness, including our "Whole for the Holidays" program. I believe that being whole — professionally, mentally, and spiritually — is what allows us to show up fully for the people we serve.
