About Nadia
Nadia Antoszyk is a licensed clinical social worker and utilization manager in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since 1992, she has authorized inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment for an insurance company. She also maintains a side practice providing counseling for children and families, couples, and adults. Nadia earned her undergraduate degree from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, and her social work degree from Columbia University. She holds the ACSW credential and completed somatic experiencing therapy training, though she did not finish all required supervision hours. A Phi Beta Kappa member, she belongs to the National Association of Social Workers. Earlier in her career, she served on the Columbia University alumni board and ran a support group for newly graduating social workers. Nadia attributes her success to maintaining a balanced life by knowing her limits and incorporating stress-relieving activities such as going outside, taking walks, or hugging her pet. She values honesty, meeting people where they are, empathy, and promoting a non-violent world. Her advice to young women entering the field emphasizes the importance of support, connections with others, and good supervision.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Having a balanced life. I find balance by knowing my limits and incorporating stress-relieving activities like going outside, taking walks, or hugging my pet.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Support is very helpful. Make connections with others and have good supervision. I did field supervision for new graduates to help them get their hours.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Being underpaid and overworked with too many cases, not enough people, and not enough money, leading to burnout.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being honest, meeting the person where they're at, being empathetic, and promoting a non-violent world.
