Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I am passionate about what I do, and that's really important. I do really enjoy recruiting and speaking with people. I definitely enjoy the business. I think the success comes from perseverance, commitment, hard work, and always learning, keeping engaged and up to date with current trends in the market and in IT recruiting. I try to challenge myself more and more in my field by taking different courses. My company offers a lot of different trainings and resources available to all the IT recruiters and sales individuals. I've done some Bob Bruno seminars, and I've also recently done a Tony Robbins seminar. He's all about the power of now, inspiration, and how to be successful in life as far as personal and career goals. So I've done a lot of those self-development type courses and read a lot of books. I recently just completed a LinkedIn training on AI. I'm always keeping myself up to date on technology and trends so that I don't remain stale or bored. I'm always trying to challenge myself, and I think that's what's kept me successful, constantly trying to grow my skill, harness that, and nurture that and grow and keep myself engaged in new trends and technologies. It's never a dull moment. Technology is constantly changing, so that's been really a key thing as far as growing and being successful over the last 27 years.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say patience and perseverance. You really have to learn from your superiors, from your teammates, from your mentors and your leaders, and really ask a lot of questions. Be a sponge, and no question is a stupid question to ask. I think the way that you learn is by also speaking to candidates. That's how I learned, speaking to candidates, asking the right questions as far as vetting and trying to understand the technology business, and just really listening and letting your candidates speak to you about what their specialties are, asking questions, and really just not giving up. I mean, it is a tough industry, and there's a lot of ups and downs. I've been through a lot of ups and downs throughout my career, especially with the volatile markets and the crash of 2007, 2008, and 9-11. I just say that if you're passionate about what you do, you'll succeed, but you really have to persevere and really ask as many questions as possible.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the field is navigating market volatility and the natural ups and downs of recruiting, which can shift hiring demand quickly. At the same time, rapid advancements in technology—especially in AI, data science, and machine learning—present a major opportunity, requiring continuous learning to stay relevant and effectively support evolving talent needs.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think being true to your word, being candid and honest. I do have morals. I believe that doing good will bring good back to you. When you serve others, always good comes around, what goes around comes around. Hard work and determination are really important, and doing right by others. I think those are really, really important in life to get you where you need to get to. I try to always maintain a positive mindset and to always look at the bigger picture and to be a good citizen. It's important in every way, personally and professionally. Taking accountability for your own actions is huge instead of always blaming others. You know, step back and take accountability.
