About Nan

Family, Faith, and the Heart Behind My Purpose

Behind every accomplishment is a family that has inspired my greatest purpose. I am first and foremost a proud wife, devoted mother, and loving grandmother. My greatest blessings are my six beautiful children—five incredible daughters and one amazing son—who have taught me the true meaning of unconditional love, resilience, patience, and perseverance. Today, I am also the proud GIGI to six wonderful grandchildren who continue to fill my heart with immeasurable joy and remind me daily why investing in the next generation matters.

My family is the foundation of everything I do. They have encouraged me through every challenge, celebrated every milestone, and inspired my passion for educating children and supporting families. They are my greatest motivation to continue creating opportunities that help children discover their gifts and believe in their limitless potential.

As an educator, artist, and founder of Art 2 STEAM Consulting LLC, I believe that art is everywhere. Art is more than paint on a canvas—it is found in the stories we tell, the buildings we design, the music we hear, the gardens we grow, the meals we prepare, the technology we create, and the way we solve everyday problems. Art is woven into every aspect of our lives and serves as a bridge that connects creativity, innovation, and learning.

My mission is to help others see the beauty and possibilities that surround them every day. Through Art 2 STEAM, I encourage children, educators, and families to embrace creativity as a powerful tool for learning, healing, self-expression, and discovery. I strive to show the world that when we nurture creativity, we unlock confidence, imagination, and the ability to dream beyond limitations.

Whether I am teaching in the college classroom, leading professional development, speaking at conferences, mentoring future educators, or spending time creating memories with my family, I am guided by one simple belief: every child, every family, and every educator deserves the opportunity to create, discover, imagine, and grow.

For me, success is measured not only by awards or accomplishments, but by the lives I have the privilege to touch. My greatest legacy will always be my family and the countless children, educators, and communities I have been blessed to inspire along the way.

01What do you attribute your success to?

What I Attribute My Success To

When people ask what I attribute my success to, my answer is simple: faith, family, perseverance, and purpose.

My faith has given me strength during life's greatest challenges and reminded me that every experience has prepared me for a greater purpose. My family has been my constant source of encouragement, love, and inspiration, motivating me to keep growing both personally and professionally. I have also been blessed with mentors, colleagues, and students who have challenged me to continue learning and striving for excellence.

One of my greatest teachers has been my thirteen-year-old son, who is autistic and high-functioning. He has profoundly shaped not only the person I am, but also the educator, advocate, and leader I have become. Through his eyes, I have gained a deeper understanding of the world and have learned to approach every child with greater patience, empathy, and compassion.

I often make a conscious effort to view situations from his perspective. Doing so has given me valuable insight into some of the challenges he encounters each day—whether it is navigating social interactions, processing sensory experiences, adapting to change, or simply wanting others to understand how he experiences the world. These moments have strengthened my belief that every child deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and supported for who they are.

Because of him, I have become a stronger advocate for inclusive education and meaningful learning experiences that honor each child's unique strengths and abilities. He reminds me daily that success should never be measured by how closely someone fits a traditional mold, but by the courage they show, the progress they make, and the gifts they share with the world.

This perspective influences every aspect of my work—from the college students I teach, to the educators I train, to the families I support through Art 2 STEAM Consulting LLC. My goal is to help create environments where every learner feels a sense of belonging, where differences are celebrated, and where creativity becomes a pathway for connection, confidence, and growth.

I believe true success is not defined by titles or awards alone. It is reflected in the lives we uplift, the barriers we help remove, and the opportunities we create for others to reach their fullest potential. That is the legacy I strive to leave every day.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received was to serve people first, and success will follow. That simple principle has guided every step of my journey as an educator, entrepreneur, and leader.

I've learned that when you lead with integrity, continue learning, and genuinely invest in helping others grow, opportunities naturally follow. Success isn't measured solely by titles or awards—it's measured by the lives you impact and the legacy you leave behind.

As a professor and the founder of Art 2 STEAM Consulting LLC, I strive to make a difference every day by empowering educators, inspiring children, and supporting families. My experiences as a wife, mother, grandmother, and parent of a son with autism have also taught me the importance of leading with empathy, patience, and understanding.

That advice continues to remind me that when your purpose is bigger than yourself, your work becomes meaningful, your influence grows, and your success becomes a blessing you can share with others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in your voice, your vision, and your ability to make a difference. Education is one of the most rewarding professions because every day you have the opportunity to shape lives, inspire dreams, and create lasting change.

Never stop learning. Seek mentors who will challenge and encourage you, remain open to new ideas, and continue growing both personally and professionally. Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone, because that is often where your greatest opportunities await.

Don't be afraid to lead. Your ideas, creativity, and perspective have value. Whether you're in the classroom, leading a team, presenting at a conference, or starting your own business, have confidence in the gifts you bring to the table.

Most importantly, remember to take care of yourself while you care for others. As educators and leaders, we often pour so much into those around us that we forget to refill our own cup. Prioritize your well-being, celebrate your accomplishments, and don't measure your journey against anyone else's.

I also encourage young women to embrace creativity and innovation. At Art 2 STEAM Consulting LLC, I believe that art is everywhere and that creativity is a powerful tool for solving problems, building connections, and inspiring lifelong learning. Stay true to your purpose, lead with integrity, and never underestimate the impact you can have on a child, a family, a colleague, or an entire community. The work you do today has the power to influence generations tomorrow.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in early childhood education today is attracting, developing, and retaining highly qualified educators while ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive. Many teachers are balancing increasing expectations, diverse classroom needs, and limited resources, making educator wellness and professional development more important than ever.

Another significant challenge is meeting the needs of children with diverse learning styles and abilities. As classrooms become more inclusive, educators must be equipped with evidence-based strategies that support every child while creating learning environments where all students feel valued, respected, and capable of succeeding.

At the same time, I see tremendous opportunities. We have a greater understanding than ever before of how young children learn through play, creativity, exploration, and meaningful relationships. Integrating the arts with STEAM education encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation while making learning engaging and accessible for all children.

Technology also presents exciting possibilities when used intentionally. It can strengthen family engagement, expand access to professional development, and provide educators with innovative tools to enhance teaching without replacing the importance of hands-on experiences and human connection.

Through Art 2 STEAM Consulting LLC, my goal is to help educators embrace these opportunities by providing creative resources, practical strategies, and professional learning experiences that inspire confidence, support inclusive practices, and remind us that every child has unique strengths waiting to be discovered. I believe that by investing in educators today, we are investing in stronger classrooms, stronger families, and stronger communities for generations to come.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and my personal life are faith, integrity, compassion, service, family, and lifelong learning. These principles influence every decision I make and have shaped the person, educator, and leader I have become.

I believe in leading with integrity by treating others with honesty, respect, and fairness. Whether I'm teaching college students, training educators, or working with families through Art 2 STEAM Consulting LLC, I strive to build relationships based on trust and genuine care. I also believe that true leadership is rooted in service. The greatest impact we can have is not in what we achieve for ourselves, but in how we help others discover their potential and succeed.

Compassion is another value that is deeply personal to me. As the mother of a thirteen-year-old son with autism, I have learned the importance of meeting people where they are and recognizing that everyone experiences the world differently. That perspective has made me a stronger educator, advocate, and listener, and it reminds me to approach every child, family, and colleague with empathy and understanding.

My family is the heart of everything I do. As a proud wife, mother of six children, and GIGI to six wonderful grandchildren, I am reminded every day that our greatest legacy is the love we give, the values we model, and the lives we influence. They inspire me to continue growing, serving, and creating opportunities for others.

Finally, I believe that learning never ends. I am committed to continuously growing both personally and professionally so I can better serve my students, fellow educators, and community. Every experience is an opportunity to learn, improve, and make a meaningful difference.

At the core of my life and work is a simple belief: when we lead with faith, serve with compassion, and invest in others with purpose, we create a legacy that extends far beyond ourselves. That is the foundation of my mission and the guiding principle behind everything I do.
