01What do you attribute your success to?

Nan Gill-Wilson is a woman who transformed adversity into opportunity—and opportunity into a life dedicated to business, education, storytelling, and empowering others. With more than three decades of experience in title insurance and real estate, Nan is the President of Gill Escrow and Settlement Corporation, where her expertise, commitment to service, and knowledge of the industry have helped build lasting client relationships. Her professional philosophy is simple yet powerful: no matter the challenge, find a way forward. From purchase through closing and beyond, Nan believes clients deserve accuracy, responsiveness, and service they can trust.

Her path to success was anything but conventional. After leaving a difficult domestic situation, Nan found herself supporting three children and rebuilding her life. She began teaching gymnastics and dance, later worked as a paralegal, and taught herself the intricacies of property records and title research. Those experiences ultimately led her to establish her own title company and develop a career spanning more than 30 years. Her expertise expanded into real estate, banking, and real estate law, and she now takes particular pride in teaching continuing education classes for attorneys, real estate agents, and brokers—sharing the knowledge she gained through experience.

Nan's entrepreneurial spirit extends far beyond title insurance. She is an Executive Producer of “Empowering Women Everywhere,” a public-access program created to give women and women's organizations a platform to tell their stories; the show now reaches audiences through dozens of stations across the country. She is also an Executive Producer of Willy-Gilly Productions, Inc. and the film Collar, and she founded a nonprofit that supports women's organizations through free interviews and commercials. Warm, determined, creative, and deeply resilient, Nan believes her greatest accomplishment isn't simply what she has built—it is what she can help others believe is possible. Nan attributes her success to resilience, self-belief, resourcefulness, and the courage to begin again. When circumstances changed her life, she could have allowed those challenges to define her future. Instead, she focused on what she could learn, what she could build, and how she could provide for her family. She learned the business from the ground up, developed expertise through experience, and ultimately created a successful company of her own.

She also credits curiosity and a willingness to say yes to opportunities. Her career has taken her from paralegal work and title examination to real estate, education, television, film production, and nonprofit work. Each chapter became a stepping stone to the next. Nan's story demonstrates that success doesn't always follow a straight line; sometimes it emerges when you are willing to learn something new and turn an unexpected challenge into a new direction.

Above all, Nan believes success is about impact. Whether she is helping a client navigate a closing, teaching a professional, producing a film, or giving a woman a platform to share her story, she wants her work to leave people better equipped and more empowered than when they began.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of Nan's guiding philosophies can be summed up in four words: “See it, say it, write it, and do it.” To her, an idea becomes powerful when you are willing to acknowledge it, put it into words, commit it to paper, and take action. Dreams require more than inspiration—they require movement.

She also believes deeply in the power of forgiveness and self-belief. Forgiveness, in her view, isn't about erasing the past; it is about refusing to allow the past to control the future. Her own journey taught her that difficult experiences can become sources of strength when you choose to learn from them rather than remain defined by them.

Nan encourages people to trust that they are capable of more than they may initially believe. Her life is a testament to the idea that reinvention is always possible—and that the chapter you are living today does not have to determine the chapter you write tomorrow.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in yourself before everyone else does, and never be afraid to learn something new. See it, say it, write it, and do it. Your circumstances may change, but your ability to learn, adapt, and create a new path is always within you. Don't allow someone else's limitations to become your own. Build relationships, keep learning, forgive what you need to leave behind, and have the courage to pursue the life you envision.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The title insurance and real estate industries continue to demand accuracy, responsiveness, knowledge, and the ability to adapt as technology and client expectations evolve. Nan sees tremendous opportunity in combining decades of industry expertise with innovative approaches to education, communication, and customer service. For her, the greatest opportunity is to use experience not simply to complete transactions, but to educate the next generation of professionals and create stronger, more informed relationships throughout the industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, perseverance, service, empowerment, and compassion are at the center of Nan's professional and personal life. She believes that relationships are built through trust, that excellence comes from caring about the details, and that success has greater meaning when it creates opportunities for others.

She values education because knowledge gives people confidence and independence, and she believes in giving back by using her platform to amplify voices that deserve to be heard. Whether through business, television, film, education, or nonprofit work, Nan strives to leave a legacy defined not only by what she accomplished, but by the people she encouraged, supported, and empowered along the way.
