About Nanci
Nanci Handerhan serves as Procurement Manager at AccuPak, where she oversees procurement for a contract manufacturing firm focused on oral care and personal care products. She joined the company seven years ago and was promoted to her current position last October, building on prior experience in a buying and planning role within another manufacturing industry. Nanci earned her certification in supply chain management last year and is nearing completion of her MBA, with only four classes remaining. She previously participated in Toastmasters and draws motivation from the support of her husband and family. Nanci advises young women entering manufacturing to prioritize kindness and develop strong soft skills, emphasizing that emotional intelligence remains irreplaceable even in an era of advancing technology.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My motivation is my husband and my family. I have a very good partner and I wouldn't be able to do all the things that I do if I did not have his support. We tackle a lot of things together and the partnership and being able to trust somebody in a relationship is the key to success.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I've been giving to my kids and to myself is always to be kind. Right now we live in a world of technology and AI came to prove that soft skills are really the important key. People have to be emotionally intelligent and I don't think at this point anything can swap that.
