Her Story

About nancy

Nancy Colier is a psychotherapist, author, mindfulness teacher, workshop leader, public speaker, and performance consultant with over 32 years of experience helping individuals cultivate greater presence, resilience, and well-being. She initially worked as a TV producer for eight years before her interest in sports psychology, sparked by her background as a top-level equestrian, led her to found The Winning Mind company. She later became a psychotherapist and has maintained a private practice for about 32 years working with individuals and couples. Colier gives workshops across the country on her books and various topics related to mindfulness and emotional health. She is the author of six books, including her sixth book Narratives of the Stories that Keep You Stuck, releasing in November, and writes regularly for Substack and Psychology Today. Her work emphasizes helping people find peace and freedom from self-created suffering, with a particular focus on women's issues including moving out of people-pleasing and rediscovering embodiment. She participates in spiritual, non-dual, and Buddhist communities and has served for 15 years on the board of an organization in Uganda that protects young women from sexual abuse.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

When we're younger, we're taught that everything interesting and meaningful lies outside of us. And that other people have the answers, and to look away from ourselves as this great source of wisdom. I wish I had known that I have the jewel in my own pocket. And that I could come back home and trust myself and my own wisdom. And that that's where the juice really was.
