Her Interview
Ten minutes with Nancy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to sticking with it and not giving up. Even when things were tough and work wasn't handed to me, I kept pushing through the hard work that real estate requires. This year everything started to fall into place after nine years of persistence.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received was from my first mentor who told me I have a talent and was put in this for a reason, so I can't give up. That advice has stayed with me on the tough days.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't give up and keep pushing because you never know when your business is going to pick up. It's not an easy industry but not impossible if you keep pushing through it and do everything you can to move your business up.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is self-motivation because as your own boss you have to keep pushing yourself. The market is what you make of it as an independent contractor and you create your own reality, so everything else outside is always going to be up and down.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty is most important, especially with my clients because they're making the biggest purchase of their lives. Being honest throughout their transaction about what they're getting into is key, even if it's not the greatest news, so they know I'm here for their best interest.
