Her Story
About Nancy
My journey really began in 2016 when I started working for my mom's insurance agency. She's an entrepreneur, and through working with her, I got to see what being an entrepreneur really was like. I came in as a sales agent and slowly started learning about accounting, systems, and how to operate a business. I went to a small trade school for accounting, and little by little, I learned about business operations. I went from doing the accounting, then the marketing and training, and eventually became the office manager for her business from 2016 until I started my own company. When I launched my construction business, it was because my husband was already working in the construction field but was having a really hard time finding consistent work, which is a huge problem for contractors managing on their own. My dad has been a flooring installer since I was really little, and my husband started working with him back in 2021. In 2024, my husband took over finding the work, but it was really hard to have consistent work. So we decided to partner together and launched 7S Contractor Services in 2025. He is co-owner in our business. I took on all the back end of the business, and he does the project management and installation. In our first year, we did over $500,000 in revenue. Right now, I really focus on business development and networking, building relationships for our business so that we continue having work. This year we hired a marketing agency, which has taken a lot off my plate, so I'm focusing on building more relationships for our business.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say hitting over $500,000 in our first year was a really big accomplishment for us. I didn't really have a goal last year, and then at the end of the year when we were doing our taxes and putting all those numbers together, I was just shocked. But it helped me understand that being organized and sticking to systems really works. In the beginning, being a woman in construction was a little overwhelming because it is a very male-dominated industry, so it was kind of hard to get people to take you serious. But we started seeing that on the client side, clients feel a little bit more comfortable speaking to women when we're talking about remodeling their kitchen or doing their floors, because I feel like I have a little bit more insight on the design and helping them pick out what goes better with what. I have the time to pay attention to those details that really matter in the end. Now, being in the industry a little bit over a year, I do feel like it's gotten easier, and you really have to be confident that you are where you should be, especially in the construction industry.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think a lot of people when they want to start a business, they overthink it and they're too scared, or maybe they feel like they're not ready. But I would really suggest that you just start, even if you're scared, maybe you feel like you're not as organized, or you don't really know everything. You really have to start and put yourself out there. Another thing is you have to do a lot of networking. So my advice is you really have to step out of your comfort zone, put yourself out there, and just keep doing it. The more you do it, the more people you're gonna meet, the easier it's gonna get, and you're gonna see results. But you have to take action. You can't just sit and hope that your business is gonna grow, you really have to put the work into it. So my advice is just really do it, even if you're scared.
