My professional journey began 50 years ago, and it remains as exciting and fulfilling for me today. I'm drawn toward the creative process of luxury sales. Once you reach an expert level of product knowledge, you're not only able to educate your customers. You have the ability to envision and combine products to offer the client high end design with optimal functionality. For me, luxury product sales have been the building blocks of my career. My skillset has been honed and crafted through several industries; whether it was fine jewelry, merchandising, upscale clothing, furniture, or decorative plumbing (to name a few), the process remains the same. I pride myself on my level of expertise within each industry I've worked. To be an effective, authentic salesperson, you must know your products inside and out. My strategy for coaching and training those new to the world of sales is always the same, do your research, familiarize yourself with everything on display, and most of all focus on all product education available to you. I work to provide lasting solutions that lead to lifetime customers. Building trust is essential in this industry. When you've proven your skills and earned the trust of a client, that's when the magic happens. The ability to turn a vision, an idea, or a simple statement into something tangible for your client is greatly rewarding. We've all heard of "good, better, best" in sales, but I like to say "good, better, best, and luxury". Dream big and believe in yourself, it's OK to start from the top and sell down if needed. However, if you lack the confidence in yourself as a salesperson to offer the luxury items, the "dream" options, then you won't reach your full potential in sales. I'm a firm believer in never shrinking myself to make another person comfortable. You must buy into yourself before a client is able to do the same. It's also crucial to find ways to stand apart from your peers, whether its the ability to read blueprints or implementing statement lighting into your sales presentations, always find a way to set the bar higher for yourself. Lastly, always remain grateful for the opportunity to engage with your clients; the relationships you make can last a lifetime. After 50 years, the things that remain the most meaningful to me are the people I've had the privilege to know and assist.

Ten minutes with Nanett

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my personal drive. I'm a high achiever and always push myself toward new goals. I don't allow myself to become stagnant; I'm strongly committed to my professional growth.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never make excuses for being great. Don't shrink yourself to make others comfortable. Keep it classy and let your work speak for itself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The first is to believe in yourself. Listen and ask open-ended questions before you start talking. Make it fun. Study your product and know your inventory. Dream big, you and always sell down Ask yourself what you I want to have happen. Set a plan to make it happen. Always be thankful for the opportunity to engage with a client on their needs, wants and desires. Never try to prequalify your client. the relationship you form with your client can last a lifetime.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I've been in this industry long enough to know challenges are cyclical. Which means, there is a give and take. There are seasons in which renovations are more prominent than new builds, for example. That means my knowledge must be comprehensive enough to accommodate each cycle our industry endures.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

. My handshake and my word mean something. My knowledge of the past and current product is solid; without it my sales would have no integrity. I love creativity! Having a client tell me what they want and trusting me to create what they need is special to me. Client satisfaction is my ultimate reward. Helping their ideas become reality and witnessing their joy is a real highlight for me. I've even had a gentleman return six times after a completed project to continuously thank me. How great is it to be instrumental in making another person that happy? I'm fortunate enough to be talented in a line of work I truly enjoy.
