What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, and a commitment to lifelong learning. My journey—from working in agriculture and social work to launching my own consulting company—has been built on determination and adaptability. Being the first in my family to attend college and start a business is something I’m incredibly proud of, and I credit much of my success to connecting authentically with others—listening, guiding, and finding solutions for those who feel overlooked.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is: “Don’t ever stop learning, and don’t let setbacks define you—let them refine you.” This mindset has guided me through major life transitions, from overcoming health challenges to launching my consulting company later in life. I truly believe that as long as you’re willing to grow, it’s never too late to start over or build something new.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering this industry to “stay informed, stay honest, and don’t be afraid of slow seasons.” It’s important to study the field, understand government and banking regulations, and develop strong communication skills. Success takes time, and I’ve found that patience, persistence, and integrity are the keys to building a lasting career.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is the steep learning curve in alternative lending and the need for trustworthy brokers. Many new entrants underestimate the complexities of compliance, funding sources, and client qualification processes. At the same time, this presents an opportunity to build a consulting brand grounded in transparency and service. Helping small businesses access capital ethically remains one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are honesty, integrity, and helping others. Whether I’m assisting clients in securing funding or advising others in business, I strive to do what’s right, not what’s easy. My background in social work instilled compassion and patience, while entrepreneurship has taught me persistence. I believe in staying humble, continually learning, and giving back whenever possible.
