Her Story
About Naomi
Naomi Miller, Director of People Systems in Veterinary Health, is a seasoned Human Resources and People Systems executive whose career is defined by resilience, determination, and a commitment to turning challenges into opportunities.
Based in the Denver Metropolitan Area, Naomi brings deep expertise in HR technology, operations, governance, enterprise compliance, and organizational effectiveness. She is recognized for her ability to connect people, processes, and technology to strengthen organizations, improve system integrity, and enable data-driven decision-making across complex, global environments. Her leadership is grounded in adaptability, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and a genuine commitment to developing others.
Her professional journey began long before she held a leadership title. A single mother of two daughters, Naomi had her first child at 16 and her second at 18, completing high school while raising her children and beginning to build her career. She initially worked in assembly line roles, following in her mother’s footsteps, until a workplace wrist injury resulted in a temporary light-duty assignment in an office. That unexpected change introduced her to Human Resources, where she was exposed to employee support processes and severance administration. What began as a temporary assignment sparked a lasting interest in HR and changed the direction of her career.
Naomi pursued entry-level HR opportunities while raising her daughters and began her college education through the University of Phoenix. She continued working, learning, and advancing through increasingly complex HR and HRIS roles, ultimately completing her degree while working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following a challenging organizational acquisition, Naomi made the courageous decision to leave her role without another position secured. That leap of faith became a pivotal moment, opening the door to HRIS and ultimately the People Systems leadership career she has built today.
Today, Naomi leads enterprise People Systems strategy, HR technology governance, integrations, and compliance at Mars Veterinary Health. She mentors and develops teams while driving scalable, people-centered solutions that enable organizations to grow and transform.
Naomi’s story is a reminder that careers do not always follow a straight path. Sometimes the moments that change our direction are the ones we never planned for—and the greatest opportunities can emerge when we have the courage to take the next step.

Ten minutes with Naomi
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my mom. She’s Japanese and came from Okinawa. When she arrived in the U.S., she didn’t speak any English, but she pushed herself to get a job, finish school, and do everything she needed to do to build a better life. Seeing her determination always motivated me. I would think, if she could come here and overcome all of those challenges, then I needed to push myself too.
Another thing that motivated me was becoming a young mom. It gave me a stronger sense of purpose and pushed me to work harder to build a stable and successful future.
My children have been one of my biggest motivations. Becoming a mother made me want to create a positive life for them and set an example they could be proud of. They remind me every day why it’s important to keep pushing forward, work hard, and never give up, even when things are difficult.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My best advice for young women is it's okay to switch. Whatever it is that you're passionate about, whatever it is that you're doing, it's okay to be unsure and to try new things. It's also okay to experience the bumps in the road or the roadblocks. They're going to happen, and just go with it. When you go with it, it's going to lead you on a path that you're supposed to be on. When I moved into HRIS, I just remembered that I was so uncomfortable in the HR role I was in. The company got acquired, and I just really wasn't liking the new organization. I wasn't comfortable, so I said I need to quit. I'm not doing the organization a benefit, they're not doing me any benefit, so I gave my notice without having any job. I was so afraid because I'm a single mom, I have two kids, I have no job coming up, and it led me to get the opportunity to get into HRIS.
