Her Interview

Ten minutes with Naomi

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Patience. With life in general, outside factors can't really get involved in my work. If a patient is having a bad day, that's not a direct impact because of me. Just to not take things personally. I've gotten yelled at and screamed at on the phone, and I have to keep my composure. Putting myself in the patient's shoes.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believing in yourself and knowing that there is no end point in healthcare. There's always ample opportunity to strive for better. There's career opportunities that I've not applied to and have missed because I felt that I was underqualified. Just believing in yourself and realizing that anything is definitely possible. Put forth that want and that need and that craving to actually get that knowledge base and move forward, and just apply to that job. Don't stop where you are. I'm always open for career opportunities and growth.
