Her Interview
Ten minutes with Naomi
01What do you attribute your success to?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in my upbringing. I grew up watching both of my immigrant parents work incredibly hard, actually came here with almost nothing, and to build a better life, and worked multiple jobs. Seeing that day in and day out really taught me that success does not come easy. I don't come from a family of wealth, so I understood very early that if I wanted to create something bigger than what I came from, I would have to be disciplined, persistent, and always willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears. That mindset has completely shaped everything that I do today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Mario Davis has been one of the best mentors, educating me on tax strategy and planning ahead so that you don't have to owe as much at the end of the year, and learning how you can use tax strategy to elevate your business.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never take no as a failure, but take no as a detour or another direction. Sometimes rejection is protection from something that wasn't meant to be. Sometimes you might be upset about an opportunity that didn't happen, but sometimes it was actually better in your favor. Don't always take no as a failure, but it could actually be your biggest blessing.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The greatest challenge is that clients sometimes lack confidence or education in the business process. They come up with the concept but need that leap of faith and can't see past the first initial steps like contracts or financial aspects. Sometimes I get more excited than the clients themselves, and bringing them into the business mindset or business education can be tricky.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Determination, integrity, and passion. Determination means never letting a no stop me, even when doubt surrounded me, using doubt as a stepping stone to get to the next level. Integrity blends honesty and transparency, creating a strong moral core and trust between me and my clients. Passion gives me the energy to push beyond limits.
