I attribute my success to having had great educators and excellent, committed, sacrificial parents who pushed education and made sure all three kids went to college and earned advanced degrees.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

To know why you do what you do. Always be focused and be solid and anchored in what your purpose is.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Enter it knowing why, with a clear mind and clear understanding that this is not where you come to get rich. This is where you come because you feel grounded, because you know that you have something to offer and an impact that you want to make.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges have a lot to do with our current political climate creating fear and despair that impacts students' attendance and ability to see themselves beyond obstacles, especially in Black and Brown communities.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Transparency, honesty, commitment and faith. Being anchored and understanding your why. Motivated by the opportunity to have impact.
