Natalie Burr is an accomplished educational leader with over 15 years of experience in the Bonneville Joint School District. She currently serves as Principal of Bonneville Online Elementary, where she provides instructional leadership, manages learning management systems (LMS), and supports vertical standards alignment to ensure consistent, high-quality instruction for all students. Natalie began her career as a classroom teacher and later transitioned into online education, spending 11 years as an online teacher before moving into her current leadership role, allowing her to develop a comprehensive understanding of both traditional and virtual learning environments.

Natalie holds an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Education from Northwest Nazarene University, where she earned a 4.0 GPA and was recognized on the Dean’s List. What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work, perseverance, and a deep commitment to balancing personal and professional responsibilities, including completing my graduate studies while raising children and supporting a family business. I have also been fortunate to learn from strong mentors and role models throughout my career, gaining valuable insight from both positive examples and challenges along the way. Humility has played an important role in my growth, as has my willingness to remain engaged and actively work alongside teachers and students rather than leading from a distance. Staying connected to the day-to-day realities of education keeps me grounded, focused on student success, and continuously motivated to improve my practice and support others in their growth.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

"Don't give up." Keep putting one foot in front of the other; maintain hope and persistence it will be worth it.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Ensuring online programs offer meaningful options for students who struggle in traditional classrooms; aligning online curriculum with brick-and-mortar schools to ease transitions; supporting and mentoring teachers through shifts to remote/online instruction (as experienced during COVID "crisis schooling").
