Ten minutes with Natalie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance, continuous learning, strong communication, and the ability to advocate for myself while maintaining a collaborative approach. Throughout my career, I have embraced opportunities to grow, adapt, and refine my skills while building meaningful relationships with colleagues, mentors, and creative partners. I am grateful for the guidance and support of the mentors who have helped shape my professional journey, and I believe in paying that support forward by mentoring and encouraging others. By staying committed to growth, collaboration, and lifelong learning, I have been able to navigate challenges and build a rewarding career in the entertainment industry.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to communicate my goals clearly and be intentional about sharing the opportunities I am seeking. By being open and vocal about my aspirations, I have learned that others are better able to support, advocate for, and connect me with opportunities that align with my career path. Clear communication, self-advocacy, and building strong professional relationships have been essential in creating meaningful growth opportunities throughout my journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering the industry to speak up about their goals, actively seek opportunities, and never assume that others know what they want to achieve. Building strong professional relationships, continuing to develop their craft, and staying open to learning are essential for long-term success. The entertainment industry is constantly evolving, so adaptability, persistence, and collaboration are key. By advocating for themselves, embracing challenges, and remaining committed to growth, young women can create meaningful opportunities and build successful, fulfilling careers.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field right now include an increasingly competitive job market, fewer entry-level opportunities, the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, and the limited availability of structured training and mentorship opportunities for emerging editors. As the industry continues to change, professionals must remain adaptable, continue developing their skills, and find new ways to create value. At the same time, there are exciting opportunities through the continued growth of streaming platforms, the demand for high-quality television content, and the expansion of creative storytelling opportunities. I believe this evolving landscape also creates possibilities for innovation, mentorship, and exploring new creative ventures beyond traditional production models. By embracing change, building strong relationships, and staying committed to growth, professionals can continue to thrive in this dynamic industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are authenticity, human connection, collaboration, mentorship, creativity, work-life balance, and lifelong learning. I believe that staying true to who I am, building genuine relationships, and creating a supportive environment are essential to meaningful success. Collaboration allows us to bring diverse perspectives together, while mentorship provides opportunities to share knowledge, encourage growth, and support the next generation of professionals. I value creativity as a driving force behind innovation and storytelling, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance that allows me to continue growing personally and professionally. Above all, I believe in remaining curious, embracing continuous learning, and fostering connections that create a lasting positive impact.
