Her Story

About Natalie

I am accountable for the nurture and retention of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) on the IBM Z platform, also known as the mainframe, while helping to build a vibrant, diverse, and skilled global community. I collaborate closely with partners to enable their solutions and help them unlock the full value of the platform. My work also includes driving developer outreach initiatives such as datathons, events, and advocacy programs that expand engagement with the ecosystem. My background is in marketing, where I have worked as a business analyst and program manager.

I work at the intersection of technology, partnership, and community building, focused on growing and nurturing the ecosystem on IBM Z.

What motivates me is the belief that technology, on its own, is powerful — but it becomes truly meaningful when it connects people, ideas, and opportunities. That belief shapes how I approach my work: building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping others succeed.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Natalie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I don’t know if “success” is the right word, but I’d say what’s guided my journey is staying focused on people and impact.

I’ve always believed technology matters most when it helps others grow.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Listen more than you speak.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Absolutely—do it. Don’t even think twice.

My advice to young women entering the mainframe space is to step in with confidence and curiosity. The IBM Z ecosystem is full of opportunity!

Don’t wait to feel “ready”—learn by doing, ask questions, and lean into the complexity. Surround yourself with people who challenge and support you, and don’t be afraid to take up space in conversations.

Most importantly, trust that you belong here. Your perspective is not just valuable—it’s needed to shape the future of this platform and the communities built around it.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities right now is how AI is transforming the way people learn and engage with the mainframe ecosystem. This shift is not just about efficiency; it’s about inclusion. AI is lowering barriers to entry, opening the door for more diverse talent to explore and contribute to the platform. It also allows experienced professionals to focus more on innovation and higher-value work, rather than repetitive learning or setup tasks.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value trust, curiosity, and impact. Trust builds the foundation for collaboration, curiosity keeps me learning and open, and impact ensures the work we do creates real value for people and communities.
