Her Story

About Natalie

I've been in property management going on 5 years now, and I've always enjoyed helping people. Right after COVID, I was looking for a new job, and a position in property management became available. I interviewed, got it, and learned a ton in that position as an office manager. I did a ton of leasing and just continued to grow within that role. When I first got into property management, I was working with low-income seniors, and being able to help them get into a comfortable, safe living environment was really where that passion started. I've really found a love and a passion for it, so I've continued, and I think I will remain in this industry. I now manage a luxury apartment complex. I think the opportunities in the field are endless, and if you find a good management company, a company that you align with, you can really be set.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice that I have ever received is to ask for what you want, because you'll never get anything if you don't ask for it. The worst thing that you could get is a no. But best case, you get exactly what you ask for, or maybe even more.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

For any young woman entering any field, being confident and being educated in whatever your field is is gonna get you a long way. The more knowledge that you have in your field, in your niche, on a particular subject, the more knowledge that you have to be able to not only excel in your field, but to really kind of double down when you need to. Definitely knowledge is power in your field, so learn a lot, work on yourself. And try not to talk so much. It's good to listen. There's a lot more power in silence.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think the opportunities in the field are endless. The challenges right now, I would just say, is going to be overall the economy. I now manage a luxury apartment complex, and there's just constantly new development. So there's just a lot of competition, I would say. But I mean, if you're up for a challenge, I think it's a great field, and there's so much growth opportunity. And especially if you find a good management company, a company that you align with, you can really be set.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say honesty and transparency. I think it's a lot easier to be honest. I think if you start with a white lie, you gotta remember and keep it up. I have too many things to remember on a day to day basis that trying to keep up with the lie is exhausting. I appreciate honesty in a team, with prospective clients, and in my personal life. I think that just being transparent with who you are, what your intentions are, what you have to offer, it just goes a long way, and it helps build trust within your community, with me, within the community here that I manage, with my team, and my personal life with friends and family.
