Her Story

About Nataly

Nataly Garcia is a dedicated professional in the aviation and aerospace industries. She pursued her education in aviation and supplemented her studies with internships and volunteer opportunities in the aerospace and spaceflight fields to gain practical knowledge of how aviation businesses operate. Garcia has coordinated display aircraft for air shows and finds great joy in being around airplanes and inside airports. Her passion for aviation was sparked as a child during solo flights to Mexico, where she observed the ways airports connect people from diverse backgrounds. She is actively involved in several professional organizations, including Women in Aviation, the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), and the Experimental Aircraft Association. Through these groups, she volunteers with initiatives such as Girls in Aviation Day and the Young Eagles program at Half Moon Bay Airport and Long Beach Airport. Garcia's career goals include obtaining her pilot certificates up to the multi-engine rating to work as a pilot, with an ultimate aim of reaching spaceflight. She attributes her success to the strong morals, determination, and belief that she could achieve anything instilled by her parents. In addition to her professional pursuits, Garcia enjoys coaching wrestling, learning languages such as Portuguese and Mandarin, and spending time with family in nature.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Nataly

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute it to my parents, and the morals that they gave me when raising me, because if I wasn't raised in the way that I was raised, with strong morals and determination and with the thought that I could do anything, I don't think I would be where I am.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise a woman to not be afraid to take up space. And not to rival men, but to stand up for themselves, because men will belittle you in this industry and make you think that you are not smart. But for the most part, I've noticed that all the women in the room know a lot more than the men. So don't be afraid to make yourself little just because the men in the room make you feel that way, you need to stand up for yourself and take up that space, because no one else will create it for you unless you make it for yourself.
