About Natascha
Natascha Crandall has been in the field of media consulting for approximately 23 years. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University, her master's in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Maryland, and her PhD in school psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University, where she also received the Dissertation of Distinction Award. While pursuing her PhD, she began working as a research assistant in children's media, leading to positions at a small production company, Nickelodeon on shows such as Bubble Guppies and Backyardigans, and Sesame Workshop on international co-productions for Northern Ireland, Egypt, Palestine, and Jordan. In 2011, she founded Crandall Consulting, through which she has worked on over 78 children's television shows worldwide. Her services include creating curricula that outline educational goals for episodes, reviewing scripts and animations to ensure goals are met, providing diversity consultation especially for Muslim and Pakistani populations as well as other cultural groups, and conducting formative research with children. She is a member of the Children's Media Association, an Emmy judge for Children and Family, a board member at the Prompt Institute, and a past board member of the Board of Education in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. She has received a certificate for contributions to the Emmy Award-winning show Don Quixote, Cousin Hody Playdate on PBS Kids for Outstanding Interactive Media 2023-2024. Additionally, she has volunteered as a girls lacrosse coach and served 13 years as a Girl Scouts service unit manager.
