Her Interview

Ten minutes with Natasha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being relentless and having a laser-like focus on what I wanted for myself. I was extremely determined and of the mindset that I had the capability and power to create the life and quality of life that I wanted. My success comes from resiliency, determination, and a laser-like focus on all the goals I wanted to achieve.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received was to never limit myself to one path and to remain open to opportunities that align with my purpose, strengths, and long-term goals. Careers do not always develop according to a perfectly designed plan, and sometimes the experiences we never anticipated become the ones that prepare us most for our next level. This advice has encouraged me to embrace new challenges, continue developing professionally, and recognize that every position can provide valuable knowledge and transferable skills. It has also reminded me that being successful is not simply about obtaining a particular title, but about continuing to grow and positioning myself for opportunities where I can make a meaningful impact.

Another important part of this advice has been to never become so comfortable with where I am that I stop preparing for where I want to go. Throughout my career, I have continued to pursue education, professional development, teaching experiences, and leadership opportunities because I understand that preparation often happens long before an opportunity presents itself. I have learned to view each stage of my career as both an accomplishment and a stepping stone toward something greater. Ultimately, the best career advice I have received has taught me to remain ambitious, adaptable, and intentional while trusting that the knowledge and experiences I gain along the way are preparing me for the next chapter of my professional journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women to cultivate positive relationships. I am a huge believer in that the right relationships open doors for us and it's important to cultivate those relationships in an effort to have a network of people that support you, want the best for you, and are rooting for you and that are willing to provide a reference where necessary.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in education today is meeting the increasingly diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students while navigating limited resources and a rapidly changing educational environment. Students enter our classrooms and schools with different levels of academic preparation, socioeconomic circumstances, access to resources, and support systems. Educators must also respond to challenges such as achievement gaps, student mental health concerns, workforce shortages, and the growing influence of technology and artificial intelligence. These realities require educators to look beyond academic performance and consider the broader social and institutional factors that affect students’ opportunities and success.

At the same time, these challenges present significant opportunities for innovation and educational leadership. Technology and artificial intelligence provide new ways to strengthen instruction, increase student engagement, and personalize learning when they are used responsibly and intentionally. There is also a growing need for educational professionals who can combine knowledge from teaching, research, counseling, and leadership to address students’ needs from multiple perspectives. I see an opportunity to use my interdisciplinary experiences to help create educational environments that are academically rigorous, innovative, equitable, and responsive to the needs of students. Ultimately, this is an exciting time to be in education because we have an opportunity to influence not only how students learn, but also how educational institutions prepare them for long-term academic, career, and personal success.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life are integrity, a strong moral compass, continuous growth, service, and perseverance. I believe in doing what is right, treating people with respect, and maintaining high standards for myself regardless of the circumstances. I also place tremendous value on education and lifelong learning. I never want to become stagnant, which is why I continually look for opportunities to expand my knowledge, strengthen my skills, and challenge myself professionally. Perseverance is equally important to me because I understand that meaningful accomplishments often require patience, resilience, and the willingness to continue moving forward even when the path is difficult.

I also deeply value service, relationships, and making a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Whether I am teaching, counseling, mentoring, or serving in a leadership capacity, I want the work I do to have a purpose beyond my own professional advancement. I value creating opportunities for others, helping people recognize their potential, and contributing to environments where individuals feel supported and empowered to succeed. In my personal life, I carry many of these same principles by valuing honesty, mutual respect, accountability, commitment, and meaningful relationships. Ultimately, I want both my personal and professional decisions to reflect who I am, what I believe, and the positive legacy I hope to leave through the people and communities I serve.
