Her Story
About Natasha
Natasha Goldberg is a Process Improvement Project Leader at the New York Power Authority, where she has spent the past two years helping design and deploy a continuous improvement system across the organization and its Canal Corporation. In this position, she leads cross-functional Rapid Improvement Events and problem-solving initiatives spanning Strategic Supply Management, Project Delivery, Strategic Operations, and Enterprise Portfolio Management, working to streamline processes, cut down on wasted effort, and strengthen service to customers. She has also completed training in the Toyota Production System and the Shingo Model for Operational Excellence, along with a year-long Energy Business Program certification through Siemens PTI.
Before entering the utilities sector, Natasha built a 20-plus-year career in consumer packaged goods, holding progressively senior roles at Unilever and Prestige Consumer Healthcare. At Unilever, she led major product and process development efforts for the Dove brand, including global launches such as Dove Men+Care Bodywash and Dove Visible Care, and later managed digital and in-silico process design initiatives for the company's global skin cleansing R&D group. She went on to lead innovation and new product development for Prestige Consumer Healthcare's Women's Health portfolio, overseeing brands like Summer's Eve, Monistat, and Vitron-C. It was at Prestige that she takes the most pride in her work, having built a team from the ground up and introduced Lean Six Sigma practices that improved efficiency, communication, and cost savings.
A chemical engineer by training, Natasha earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Columbia University, graduating in 1998 and 2001 respectively, and holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification that continues to shape her approach to operational excellence. She describes herself as a natural "dot connector," drawn to linking people, ideas, and processes across organizational silos. Outside of her professional life, she is an avid traveler with a particular fondness for Jamaica, and she dedicates time to volunteering at a psychiatric hospital in support of personal health and education. In recognition of her career achievements, she has been selected to be featured in the 2026 edition of Influential Women, representing New York.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Natasha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the strong network of friends, coworkers, and coaches who supported me and reminded me of my own worth, combined with the internal confidence I have built over time to work through challenges.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is to be proactive — not to wait for others to tell me what to do, but to step up, take initiative, and address problems as they arise. This advice came from one of my professors at Columbia.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay open to learning new things and different perspectives, to believe in yourself and your capabilities, and not to let other people's negative opinions dictate your path. Confidence in yourself is essential.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is the transition to clean energy while continuing to provide low-cost, reliable power to the state of New York, especially as demand grows with electrification and increased data usage. At the same time, I see real opportunity in building a continuous improvement culture that drives small, daily changes to improve how we work and serve our customers.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me, in both my work and personal life, are honesty, empathy, and treating people with respect.
