Her Story
About Natasha
I serve as Director of Sales and Catering at Corey Hospitality, a position I've held for about 7 months. In this role, I'm overseeing the opening of a brand new hotel in Midland, Texas, which has been a lot of fun. My primary responsibility is driving business to the hotel by building relationships with corporate accounts, particularly in the oil industry which dominates our area, as well as local companies. I also lead a team that manages our catering operations for weddings, birthday parties, and various events in our ballroom. What I've learned is that people book with the person, not just the place - the hotel being clean matters, but it's really about the people and the relationships you build. Before transitioning to hospitality 3 years ago, I worked in the jewelry industry, and many of the relationships I built there have followed me to the hotels. I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology from Eastern New Mexico University in 2016. In 2025, I received the award for Most Influential Women of West Texas in Hospitality and Tourism, which was a meaningful recognition of my work in this field.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Natasha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to not giving up and always wanting to learn. Every day I'm looking to learn something new and to grow. I never get comfortable in my position - I keep pushing myself forward. I think it's important to never stop learning and to always be open to new opportunities for growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is about how to build relationships. I used to work in the jewelry industry before hospitality, and the people I built relationships with there actually followed me to the hotels. People I meet on the streets always remember me because I took the time to build that relationship with them. That networking and relationship-building has been invaluable throughout my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is to never give up and always take opportunities. Whenever you're offered an opportunity for growth, don't overthink it - just do it. Take those chances when they come your way and trust yourself to rise to the challenge.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges right now are that travel has been down a little bit, and we recently had a decline in oil in our area - not a complete bust, but a decline. So trying to keep the business in our area has been an obstacle. We also have a lot of competition with many new hotels coming up. But what I've learned is that people book with the person, not necessarily just the place. The hotel being clean matters, but it's really more about the people - they want to come stay with you. So the key is beating the competition by focusing on those personal relationships and keeping the business in our area.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are integrity and hard work. I think it's very important to always push yourself to do your best and never settle for less than what you're capable of achieving.
