Her Story

About NeKesha

NeKesha Prymus is the owner, head coach, and mentor of The Prymus Angels Corporation, a non-profit organization she officially incorporated on May 9, 2023, though her commitment to mentoring young women in the Miami area traces back decades. An educator since 1995, she built her foundation at Alabama State University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education Administration alongside a minor in Child Psychology, and she has since maintained certifications in CPR, child CPR, and coaching that support her hands-on approach to youth development.

Through The Prymus Angels Corporation, NeKesha guides young women from elementary school through college, offering tutoring, weekly academic check-ins, campus tours, and family support services such as food distribution for households facing hardship. Her commitment to this work is deeply personal: having grown up in challenging circumstances herself, she was taken in and raised by a woman who was not her biological mother but who set high expectations and offered unwavering support, ultimately inspiring NeKesha's own path to higher education and her mission to open similar doors for others.

Guided by her faith, a spirit of gratitude, and an unwavering commitment to honesty, NeKesha continues working toward making her program fully self-sustaining so she can extend its reach to even more young women. She encourages the girls in her program to never give up, reminding them that achievements earned through hard work can never be taken away, and that their name and character remain their most valuable assets. Outside of her mentorship work, she finds peace in reading and spending quiet time by the beach in prayer and reflection, and she treasures the time she shares with her own children and family.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with NeKesha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success first and foremost to God. I was also raised by a woman who, although not my biological mother, took me in during a difficult time in my life and loved me as her own. She is 93 years old now and remains one of the strongest, most remarkable women I know. So much of what I have accomplished is rooted in what she showed me and the high standards she held me to.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I always tell my young ladies never to give up. There will be difficult and challenging times, but nothing worthwhile ever comes easily. When you work hard for something, it becomes something that touches your heart forever, because you earned it with everything you had, and no one can ever take that away from you. I also remind them that, no matter how much help they receive along the way, it is still their name attached to their achievements, and their name is valuable.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My biggest goal is to build my program into something that is fully self-sustaining so I can reach and help even more young ladies. Financial limitations remain one of my greatest challenges, but I envision growing this organization into something every young woman would want to be part of, strong enough to stand on its own.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Giving God the glory in everything I do is at the center of my values. I try to show gratitude, even for the smallest things, and I hold firmly to the belief that everything happens for a reason. Honesty matters deeply to me; I want the people around me to come to me with their true hearts. I also value my time greatly, because it is limited, and I believe every moment should be spent with purpose and urgency toward a goal.
