Her Story
About Gianetta
I'm a writer who creates stories for my family. I wrote my first book, The Prince and the Gift, for my kids. Now my daughter's grown and gone, but I still have granddaughters, so I'm working on the sequel that would have come after that first book. I use the pen name GK Frost - the Frost part comes from my grandmother. It's funny because I decided to use GK Frost months before the Harry Potter books came out. Before I focused on writing, I was a single mom and I worked myself to death. One of my biggest challenges in writing is that I get stuck semi-often because I know where the story is going, but I don't want to drag through the everyday days that go in between where I am and where I want to go. In my current project, the boys start out young and then you see them again when they're young teens, and I want them to be older. But if you don't see them at those earlier ages and as young teens, you don't see the motivation, you don't see how come they're so different, and you don't see why they become the way they become. They're best friends, and showing that development is important to the story.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I get stuck semi-often in my writing. It feels like often because I know where the story is going, but I don't want to drag through the everyday days that go in between where I am and where I want to go. In the book I'm working on currently, the boys start out young and then you see them again when they're young teens, and there's all the daily living, but where I want them to be is older. But if you don't see them at the younger age and as young teens, then you don't see the motivation. You don't see how come they're so different. They're best friends, and you don't see why they become the way they become. So the challenge is showing that character development without dragging through every single day.
