Neyda DeJesus

I've been in the nonprofit field for over 10 years, and I've been in my current role as a community engagement specialist for approximately 2 years. My typical day involves engaging with the community, residents, clients, and staff within the organization, bringing awareness about all the different resources, programs, and services available that can support the families we serve. I table at various events, whether it's the school department, community healthcare facilities, outdoor activities, or lunch programs, to bring awareness about our services. I also focus on keeping and building upon the relationships we have with our stakeholders and partners. As a credible messenger, I meet with clients and mentor them through their journey, drawing on my own lived experience. What makes this work especially meaningful is that I used to be a client of this organization back in the early 2000s, and now I get to work with the fabulous, incredible person who was my mentor during that difficult time. It's full circle, and I'm honored to do the very same work that impacted me in a positive way.
