What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of self-belief, perseverance, and the support of those around me. I’ve always believed that if I set my mind to something, I can achieve it, and consistently moving forward—persevering through challenges—has been key. Equally important has been the encouragement of my family and the guidance of mentors and colleagues throughout my career. Together, this mindset and support system have been the foundation of my achievements.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received came from my dad: find something you love to do that you could continue even in retirement. Our family has always been the type that can’t sit still, so he encouraged me to pursue work that’s meaningful and enduring, whether paid or not. That advice inspired me to return to school for my doctoral degree. It also shaped my path in psychology, where I can continue helping others, teaching, and making an impact at any stage of life—work I’ll never tire of and never truly retire from.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering this industry to be confident in their ambitions and pursue their goals at any stage of life. Don’t let age or timing deter you from returning to school, changing course, or exploring new opportunities—your drive and determination are what truly matter.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is the rising prevalence of anxiety and depression since 2020, particularly among adolescents. This has created an urgent need for expanded mental health services, as well as more neuropsychological assessment resources for conditions like ADHD and autism. At the same time, these challenges present an important opportunity to innovate and expand access to care, ensuring that young people receive the support they need to thrive.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are wellness, continuous learning, and intentional focus. I prioritize keeping my body and mind fit—riding my Peloton daily, teaching Krav Maga, and staying active in martial arts through my fiancé’s studio. I also dedicate time to lifelong learning, whether reading, studying, or exploring new skills, and I practice intentional disconnecting, silencing my phone before bed to focus on reading or connecting with loved ones. I believe that staying physically and mentally engaged not only promotes longevity but also keeps me curious, sharp, and energized in all aspects of life.
