Ten minutes with Nicole
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
No matter who it is, if somebody comes into your office, you should look at them and pay attention to what they're saying. It doesn't matter if it is the CEO coming in, you should treat everybody with the same respect because you never know what somebody's going through.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
In HR, it's important for everybody to not compare themselves because we don't know how they got there, we don't know what kind of support they have, we don't know what kind of lifestyle they've grown up in, and we should never compare and we should never assume. We should always look at that individual because we cannot look at somebody's life or their resume and take that for face value.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
HR is constantly evolving. The world is becoming so technology-centered, AI-centered. In manufacturing, the labor has significantly reduced. In these rural communities, it's really kind of working with them and making sure that they are becoming certified and skilled, and that we're taking what they are, you know, grassroots, but really enabling them to get to where they need to be when it comes to engineering and automation, and helping them, empowering them, to grow as our world is growing.
