Her Story

About Nicole

Nicole Davidson is an accountant who owns two accounting firms, most notably Two Palms Accounting, which she founded in 2023 to serve clients throughout the Tampa Bay area and beyond. Her path into the profession began during college, where preparing taxes for herself and others sparked a lasting interest in the field; that early interest eventually grew into a full business nearly eleven years ago, built alongside a decade spent in a corporate role. Today, her practice operates virtually, reaching clients in more than fifteen U.S. states as well as Canada, Spain, and Japan, with services spanning tax strategy, bookkeeping, payroll administration, and tax resolution.

Davidson's academic background supports the breadth of her practice. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in International Business from St. Petersburg College and went on to earn a master's degree in Accounting and Financial Management from University of Maryland Global Campus. As a student, she was part of a team that won international honors at the Business Strategy Invitational, an early sign of the strategic thinking she would later bring to her clients. She has since co-authored two business books, The Business Playbook from Start to Scale and The Breakthrough, and has been featured in a magazine publication. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she's able to serve a wider range of clients than many firms in her space.

Beyond her client work, Davidson is guided by a strong sense of service and community. She volunteers with Junior Achievement to teach financial literacy to students and supports ECHO shelter through community events, reflecting values she carries into her professional relationships as well. Known for prioritizing trust and staying closely connected to her clients, she has built her firm's reputation primarily through referrals and long-standing partnerships rather than traditional marketing, an approach that continues to define how she grows her business today.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Nicole

01What do you attribute your success to?

I credit my success to the strength of the relationships I've built over the years. Early on, I offered my time and skills to friends and family, which allowed me to gain hands-on experience while building trust within my community. That trust turned into consistent word-of-mouth referrals, and I've continued to grow by focusing on dependable, practical service that keeps clients coming back.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've ever received is simply: work hard and your career will follow. That principle became real to me early on when I noticed errors in my own tax return prepared by a national chain service. That experience pushed me to start doing my own taxes, and eventually to build a tax preparation business of my own. I spent years growing that business on the side while working in corporate roles, until I was finally able to leave my corporate job entirely to focus on my firms in the DC area and Tampa Bay. Today, operating virtually allows me to work with clients across fifteen U.S. states and three additional countries, and I make it a priority to offer flexible scheduling so I can properly accommodate my international clients.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice is simple: you can absolutely have a successful career as an accountant. I've tried to prove that through my own work — co-authoring two books, The Business Playbook from Start to Scale and my upcoming release, The Breakthrough, and being featured in a magazine along the way. None of that happened overnight, but it shows that with persistence and the right mindset, there's real room to grow and be recognized in this field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of my biggest challenges has been scaling a relatively new brand within my local Tampa Bay market while simultaneously serving a client base that spans the country and extends internationally. I also see it as an ongoing responsibility to help clients understand that accounting and tax planning aren't seasonal tasks but year-round priorities. At the same time, I'm seeing growing demand for tax resolution services, which presents a real opportunity for firms like mine to step in and provide meaningful support.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Trust and long-term relationships sit at the center of everything I do professionally. I try to lead with a service-first mindset in every client interaction, and I place real importance on promoting financial literacy, which is part of why I stay involved with organizations like Junior Achievement.
