About Nicole
Nicole Dorsey is a Detailing Manager in the construction industry with 14 years of experience. She initially studied interior design and worked at an architecture firm in Boston before transitioning to a technical detailing role at Falkbuilt, a prefab wall system company. She now manages the detailing team at a stair design and manufacturing company called Synergi, where she oversees project assignments, personnel management, and ensures projects stay on schedule and budget. Her expertise lies in architectural detailing, blending her creative background with technical skills. Nicole graduated summa cum laude from Suffolk University's New England School of Art and Design in 2015, where she was in the honors program, served as president of the Interior Design Association, and was involved in various charity organizations.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I've had a lot of really great mentors and leaders that I've worked for over the years. These individuals have always encouraged me to speak up, explore ideas, and push the boundaries - as a result I don't think I'd be where I am today without them. A goal of mine is to have a similarly positive impact on those I work with.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Lead with compassion and kindness, always.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do it! I'm seeing more and more women enter the industry, and I'd love to see that continuing. Women bring such great ideas and perspective to what has historically been a male-dominated industry, and their influence is invaluable!
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There never seems to be enough time or money to execute a project as intended, and the current political and financial climate is making it even harder these days. Trying to balance creative ideas with real-world limitations can be incredibly challenging.
