Her Interview
Ten minutes with Nicole
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success definitely to my children, who are great motivators. Also to my parents, my mother and father. They're very good people. I learned a lot from them. I learned wisdom from my dad and nurturing from my mom.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to never stop learning, because learning is your power. There's so much out there you can gain by just learning it.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
This type of job is not for the weak, but if you're coming in to change people, you're gonna be disappointed because you can't change until people want to change themselves. You can bring hope by showing them rather than telling them. Your word is everything. You gotta make sure your word is everything because it builds trust.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges are the barriers with politics and funding, not enough shelters, and finding good hearted people that really love this work. It's getting harder and harder.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are compassion, empathy, passion, loyalty, integrity, and being trustworthy.
