About Nicole
I started my career in dermatology, working at the front desk while I was going to school. After graduating from Columbia College of Chicago with a degree in marketing and a concentration in public relations, I was able to transition into the marketing department. From there, I had a string of different marketing jobs, but they all still landed within the medical field. I've been in dermatology, I've been in dental, and now I'm working for cardiothoracic surgeons at my nonprofit, the Thoracic Surgery Foundation. It's all been very medical-based, and I think that's kind of a niche marketing aspect. I've been in this position for 3 years now, and overall within the marketing field since 2016. Because our nonprofit is so small and we are the charitable heart of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, our department is a team of three. I handle a lot of the donor relations, making sure that our donation page is up to date, making sure that all links are live on our website. I also handle a lot of the social media marketing aspect for our nonprofit, so if there are any grants or scholarships that are available that we offer, I make sure to post those on our social media channels and make sure that our website is up to date as well. If there are any emails or calls that come through regarding any possible donations, I handle those and then filter those to our executive director if needed. One of my old managers used to say it's kind of like Santa Claus, where we raise and give it out, and it's very rewarding, definitely.
