Her Story
About Nicole
Nicole Kelley is a career coach and leadership coach who leads Nicole Kelley Coaching. Before entering coaching, she built her career in tech starting at Amazon before joining a startup in the San Francisco Bay Area as its first non-founding employee. She remained there for seven years, building and leading functions including customer success, account management, product, design, and UX research. Observing a lack of leadership development in small tech companies inspired her to pursue coaching. She now provides executive coaching to help leaders define their vision and strategies, as well as career coaching for job seekers covering resumes, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, and storytelling. Nicole is trained by the Co-Active Training Institute and is also a certified RYT yoga teacher. She remains part of that community along with Bay Area tech networks. She is a mother of two who attributes her success to surrounding herself with smart people, getting hands-on experience, and being willing to learn through trial and error.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to surrounding myself with really smart people and being willing to get my hands dirty and dig into the weeds. I'm someone who learns better by doing it myself and experiencing it. My willingness to try and figure it out and fail along the way has helped me tremendously.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Joy and fun matter a lot, especially in work. I also always try to prioritize groundedness, and coming back to yourself. A lot of people cite values like integrity and honesty and kindness and love -- these matter to me as well. But the groundedness and the joy make a big difference in unexpected ways.
