Her Story

About Nicole

Nicole Lamb serves as an administrator at a high school in Minnesota, where she is in her fifth year overseeing special education programming while also supporting general education teachers and leading collaborative teams to implement district mandates and drive systemic change. Her journey into education began after earning a geography degree and teaching license from the University of Oregon, followed by a move back to Minnesota, where she discovered her passion for special education and working with students who have ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and other learning disabilities. She values taking time to be thoughtful in her approach, thinking of others, and being kind, and she attributes her professional success to the mentors and principals throughout her life who noticed her qualities and encouraged her to pursue teaching and leadership roles she might not have considered on her own. As a member of the Administrators Association in Minnesota, Nicole focuses on building strong teams that improve student outcomes and encourages young women entering the field by affirming their capabilities and leadership potential.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Nicole

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to all the amazing people I've met in my life, especially mentors and principals who noticed qualities in me and pulled me aside to suggest paths like becoming a teacher or leader, which I wouldn't have seen on my own.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I tell young women that they are capable and have strong voices. I see their leadership with peers and others, and I let them know they will be amazing leaders and can reach out for support if needed.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My biggest value is to take time to be thoughtful because rushing into things usually does not prove to be the best course of action. Think about others as much as yourself, and be kind.
