Her Story

About Nicole

I fell into this field by chance during hard times when I was trying to raise children on my own and needed a job with insurance. I applied at iFit and started out as just a customer service rep, but within about 6 weeks, I started moving into leadership roles, and I've been climbing the ladder ever since. I've been with the company for 12 and a half years now, leading customer support teams and working in the customer support world. What I love about it is people - I love helping people achieve their goals, whether it's our customers who are looking for fitness goals and these products are helping them attain those, or my team who are looking for both personal and professional goals and advancement and growth. That's where my passion is, and that's what puts me into leadership roles. I have a bachelor's degree in social work from Utah State University, which I think actually immensely helps me in leadership roles because I'm very good at people. Social work takes a strengths-based perspective, which is just how I've operated my whole life, so I'm very good at developing teams and putting people in the places where their strengths can shine and utilizing their strengths to lift the whole team and keep things moving forward.

Ten minutes with Nicole

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't stay quiet. I think that we have a tendency to let other people do the talking in meetings or in hard conversations, and I think it's really important that our voice is heard. We have a unique perspective, and we need to speak up and share what we're seeing, what we're thinking, and what our ideas are for resolving complex issues.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges for me personally and my team that we really talk about and work on a lot is remaining in the present. With everything being so fast-paced, we're always trying to anticipate the next move, and I feel like anxiety lives in the future. That causes a lot of additional stress. So we focus on staying mindful, staying in the present, and not thinking too far ahead. We're tackling what we're tackling right now, and we'll move on to the next thing when we're finished, completing what's right in front of us.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

First, integrity. I believe that we need to be walking the talk, so we need to be truthful with our words but following it up with action. To me, that's integrity, and along with that, honesty falls in line with that integrity. I also really believe in action, so we can't just say the right things, we have to do. So integrity and action are two of my top priorities. And then, relationship - just being in community and connection. I think that's incredibly important, both in a customer-facing world where we are working on connections with customers and relationships with customers in order to keep them as repeat customers, but also in building teams.
