Nicole Scott is a seasoned leader at BMW of North America, where she oversees a cost center of roughly 72 employees, including quality specialists, engineers, and production associates. In her current role, she manages the instrument panel (“cockpit”) area, ensuring that processes deliver zero-defect products from supplier contact through station-to-station production. Her leadership style is people-first, emphasizing teamwork, inclusivity, and flexibility, while continually seeking creative solutions to process and retention challenges.

Nicole began her career as a production associate and has steadily advanced through roles including a battery plant start-up on B shift, eventually moving into management. Prior to her tenure at BMW, she spent eight years as a branch manager in finance, an experience that helped shape her management approach. With over a decade in her current company and 12 years in her field, Nicole brings a wealth of hands-on experience in operations, team development, and process improvement.

Nicole holds an undergraduate degree and studied abroad in San José, Costa Rica for six months. She has earned certifications in Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt, Continuous Improvement (CIP), Spanish, and has completed the ILEAD leadership program. Beyond her professional work, Nicole has served two terms on the Greenville County Human Relations Commission and volunteers with Miracle Hill Ministries and Habitat for Humanity. Recognized as one of South Carolina’s Influential Women for 2026, she encourages the next generation to “take the flag and charge the hill,” embracing change, seeking feedback, and leading with initiative and teamwork.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the guidance of mentors like Renita Williams and Julian Brockman, as well as my focus on building inclusive teams and serving others—principles that have guided me throughout my 10 years at BMW.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to “take the flag and charge the hill”: embrace change, stay flexible, seek feedback, rely on teamwork, ask for help, and take initiative without hesitation.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is working in a male-dominated environment, but this also presents opportunities to foster teamwork, creativity, and flexibility while building inclusive teams and improving employee retention in manufacturing.
