About Nicole
Nicole Shutts serves as the community outreach recruiter for Genesis Healthcare, representing Parkersburg, West Virginia. She has been in this role for about six months and brings roughly one year of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to transitioning into healthcare, she spent six years in higher education, beginning as an admissions counselor in 2019 and advancing to coordinator and then director positions. In her current position, Shutts engages in grassroots recruitment efforts to attract nurses and healthcare workers to the company's facilities. She oversees four buildings in her area, where she reviews applicants, meets with staff including CNAs, LPNs, and RNs, collaborates with administration, and develops strategies to retain employees and foster a positive work environment. Shutts earned her MBA degree this year, a significant personal achievement as a first-generation college student who grew up in poverty. Her background motivates her to help others from similar circumstances succeed, whether in education or by finding meaningful careers in long-term care. Outside of work, she dedicates time to her church, assisting with youth programs.
