Her Interview

Ten minutes with Nicolle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to three foundational principles: my faith, my genuine love for people, and the experiences that have challenged and shaped me throughout my career. My faith has been the anchor that has given me strength, wisdom, and purpose through every season of my journey. My passion for serving others has allowed me to build meaningful relationships rooted in trust, empathy, and authenticity. Every professional experience—whether a success or a challenge—has strengthened my resilience, expanded my perspective, and equipped me with the knowledge to lead with confidence, compassion, and integrity. Together, these principles continue to guide my commitment to developing people, creating lasting organizational impact, and leaving every person and every opportunity better than I found them.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is actually two lessons that have stayed with me throughout my leadership journey.

The first was about the power of the word "but." I was taught that when we say, "You did a great job, but…," everything that came before the word "but" is often forgotten. That lesson transformed the way I communicate. It taught me to be intentional with my words, to recognize and celebrate people's contributions genuinely, and to deliver feedback in a way that builds rather than diminishes confidence.

The second piece of advice was simple but profound: "What is permitted will increase." As a leader, that principle has become one of my guiding philosophies. It reminds me that the standards we tolerate ultimately become the culture we create. Whether it's excellence, accountability, respect, or performance, leaders have a responsibility to establish clear expectations and consistently uphold them.

Together, these two lessons have shaped my leadership approach. They have taught me that leadership is not only about making decisions—it is about communicating with intention, recognizing people authentically, and creating a culture where accountability and excellence can thrive.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the healthcare industry is to never underestimate the value of your voice, your work ethic, or your willingness to keep learning. Healthcare is constantly evolving, and the leaders who make the greatest impact are those who remain curious, adaptable, and committed to continuous growth.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, seek mentors, and volunteer for opportunities that stretch you beyond your comfort zone. Some of my greatest professional growth came from accepting challenges before I felt completely ready. Every new experience became another building block in my leadership journey.

Also, remember that leadership is not defined by your title. You can lead from any seat by demonstrating integrity, accountability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to serving others. Build relationships, treat people with respect, and never lose sight of the fact that behind every process, every program, and every metric is a patient whose life may be impacted by the work you do.

Finally, stay true to your values. There will be moments when taking the easy path seems tempting, but your character, consistency, and reputation will open more doors than shortcuts ever will. Invest in becoming the kind of leader others trust, and success will follow.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I see this question from two perspectives: my work in healthcare HUB services and my role as the founder of N'Light'N Consulting.

From a healthcare perspective, one of the biggest opportunities is leveraging technology and artificial intelligence to improve the patient experience. AI has the potential to streamline administrative processes, reduce turnaround times, and provide teams with better insights to support faster, more informed decisions. At the same time, one of our greatest challenges is ensuring that technology enhances—not replaces—the human connection. Patient access is deeply personal, and while innovation can improve efficiency, compassion, empathy, and critical thinking will always remain essential to delivering exceptional care.

From an entrepreneurship and leadership perspective, I believe one of the greatest opportunities is helping organizations recognize that leadership development is no longer optional—it is a strategic investment. Today's workforce is looking for leaders who communicate effectively, inspire trust, develop people, and create healthy workplace cultures. The challenge is that many organizations still promote high performers into leadership roles without equipping them with the skills to lead others successfully. Through N'Light'N Consulting, my mission is to bridge that gap by helping leaders develop the confidence, emotional intelligence, and practical leadership skills needed to build engaged teams and sustainable organizational success.

Across both roles, the common thread is people. Whether we're improving access to healthcare or developing stronger leaders, lasting success comes from investing in people, embracing innovation with purpose, and creating systems that allow individuals and organizations to thrive together.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are faith, integrity, compassion, and service. For me, these are not separate values that I apply only in certain situations—they are the principles that shape every aspect of my personal life and professional career.

My faith is the foundation of who I am. It guides my decisions, keeps me grounded, and gives me the strength, wisdom, and perspective to navigate challenges with confidence and purpose. I truly believe I could not do what I do without God by my side. My faith reminds me to lead with humility, extend grace, and approach every opportunity as a chance to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Integrity is equally important to me. I believe that doing the right thing—even when no one is watching—builds trust, credibility, and lasting relationships. I also strive to lead with compassion, recognizing that everyone is facing challenges we may not always see. Whether I'm mentoring a leader, supporting a colleague, or serving a patient, I want people to know they have been seen, heard, and valued.

Ultimately, I believe success is measured not only by what we accomplish, but by how we treat people along the way. If I can lead with faith, serve with compassion, and leave every person and every organization better than I found them, then I consider that a life and career well lived.
