Nidhi Dabhi, RN
Nidhi Dabhi, RN, is a dedicated healthcare professional and owner of Home Matters Caregiving in Edison, New Jersey. She has been a registered nurse for over 15 years, beginning her career in hospitals before focusing exclusively on geriatrics for the past 7–8 years, working in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Additionally, she spent two years as a home care nurse, during which she observed areas in management and caregiver support that needed improvement. Driven by a desire to create meaningful change, she left her nursing role a year and a half ago to launch Home Matters, her own home care agency.
As a hands-on leader, Nidhi serves as the owner, director of nursing, and administrator, managing both client care and the operational aspects of the business. She brings her extensive clinical experience and compassionate approach to every client, emphasizing not only medical support but also emotional well-being and personalized attention. Her expertise spans medication management, wound care, rehabilitation, and holistic elder care, reflecting her deep commitment to improving the lives of seniors.
Nidhi is passionate about advocating for caregivers, ensuring they are treated fairly and compensated appropriately, recognizing that quality care depends on a supported and valued workforce. Her mission is to foster a nurturing, safe, and trustworthy environment for both clients and caregivers, particularly as the senior population continues to grow toward 2050. For Nidhi, success is measured by the positive impact she has on her clients’ lives and the empowerment of the caregivers who make that care possible.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of experience, vision, and a commitment to fairness. Founding Home Matters Caregiving allowed me to implement meaningful changes in management and ensure that caregivers are treated with the respect and compensation they deserve. My extensive background as a registered nurse, particularly in geriatrics and long-term care, provided the insight and expertise necessary to make these improvements and build a culture of compassionate, high-quality care.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge I'm facing right now is transitioning from being a nurse who worked a 7am to 7pm shift, where I could clock in and clock out and be done, to owning my own business where I'm still trying to figure out the ins and outs of actually running the business and being able to manage it properly. I am the one that is in charge, so I cannot go complain to anybody else - I have to fix it. That's been the challenge, figuring out how to work the other side of things, not just being a nurse, but managing a whole operation that includes managing my staff of 10 caregivers, as well as my clients, scheduling, payroll, all of those things that I do on my own. But the opportunity is huge - our senior care population really needs help, and it's only going to get bigger. There's gonna be a boom of seniors by 2050, but without caregivers, without that adequate staff, they're not gonna get the help that they need.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are fairness, compassion, and community engagement. I am deeply committed to ensuring caregivers receive fair treatment and appropriate compensation for their dedication, while also actively participating in my community through hands-on volunteering. These principles guide my decisions and interactions, fostering environments where people feel respected, supported, and empowered to thrive.
