About Nikki
Nikki Palmer is a development and fundraising leader with over 15 years of experience in nonprofit advancement, campaign strategy, donor engagement, and revenue generation. She currently serves as Sr. Director of Development at The Ohio State University College of Social Work, a role she transitioned into in April after moving back to her hometown of Columbus as part of a military family. Prior to this, she was the National Campaign Director for Purpose Built Communities in Atlanta for about two years and spent five years as a Development Director at the American Heart Association. Earlier in her career, she worked in annual giving at the University of Kansas. Nikki has raised millions of dollars for impactful missions, including scholarships and health equity initiatives such as Go Red for Women. She is a member of AFP and Chosen for Change, serves on the youth board at her church, and was recognized as Military Spouse of the Year for several organizations. Outside her professional roles, she runs the Little Diamonds mentorship program and the Pretty Empowerment seminar to empower young girls and women.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be curious about opportunities to learn more. Always go alongside missions that you are passionate about, because in nonprofit and in fundraising, it often takes more than a job. You have to be passionate and committed to go the distance. Be a student of this industry and this work.
