About Nikki

Nicole Sanchez is the founder and parent advocate with Family Support And Advocacy Network specializing in family reunification and peer support. Since entering the field, she has drawn on her own lived experience of navigating the child welfare system and successfully reunifying with her children to provide compassionate, practical guidance to parents facing similar challenges. Her work centers on helping families access resources, navigate complex processes, and move toward stability and reunification. In her role, Nicole supports parents through court proceedings, detox and treatment plans, and communication with the Department of Human Services (DHS). She also provides mediation, resource navigation, and ongoing peer support, remaining available to families who need guidance during difficult moments. Her professional development includes TBRI training, peer recovery and peer mentoring courses, and motivational speaking training, strengthening her ability to connect with and advocate for families in crisis. Nicole is also actively involved in community leadership and family advocacy. She serves on the Re-imaging Steering Committee and the board of the Colorado State Foster Association, contributing her firsthand perspective to efforts supporting children and families. Motivated by her personal journey and commitment to helping others, Nicole is working with her husband to establish a nonprofit organization focused on supporting families. Her dedication to empowering parents and helping families reunify reflects her strong belief in the importance of hope, advocacy, and accessible support.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Nikki

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my own lived experiences and the lessons they have taught me. Seeing how those experiences affected not only me but also my children has motivated me to help other families avoid similar challenges and create better outcomes for themselves.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is just really if you care about something and if you want to make a difference, you keep speaking up, and being vulnerable, and being willing to help and speak up for other people.
