Nikkol Rivas

Nyamora Peter has spent five years in the field of mental health and recovery, specifically for youth and young adults. She started at South Florida Wellness Network as a youth peer specialist, using her own lived experience with mental health to assist young people navigating similar challenges. After two to three years in that role, she began hosting youth events and planning wellness activities such as kayaking, bowling, and self-love events with affirmations and mirror decorating, all provided free to the community. She now serves as youth program supervisor, overseeing a team that has grown from three or four youth peer specialists to twelve, while helping other young people leverage their lived experiences to support peers facing homelessness, lack of access to food or school, and other barriers. Nyamora holds an AA degree and has been a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CRPS) through the Florida Certification Board for four years, with her agency supporting her certification through peer-to-peer training.
