What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success first and foremost to my faith in God. Following my experience with domestic violence, my relationship with God has deepened significantly and continues to be the foundation of my life. I seek His guidance throughout each day in both good and challenging moments, and prayer is an essential part of my daily practice. My faith is central to who I am, and I strive to ensure that the environments and relationships I engage in align with my values.
Beyond faith, my journey has been shaped by perseverance and a strong determination to keep moving forward. I have always been driven to grow, improve, and pursue more for my life and future. I am motivated by a desire to make my parents proud, to accomplish what they were not able to achieve, and to serve as a positive role model and mentor for my children, especially my daughters. This commitment to growth, purpose, and resilience continues to guide everything I do.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of career advice I’ve received is to stay consistent, even when motivation is low. I’ve learned that showing up, being dependable, and giving my best over time leads to real growth and long-term success. I’ve also been encouraged to focus on building meaningful relationships rather than just a résumé, because connections often open doors and create lasting opportunities. Another important lesson is not to wait until I feel fully ready, but to step forward in faith and trust God in the process of growth and new challenges. My faith is the foundation that guides my decisions, strengthens my confidence, and reminds me that I am never walking alone in my career journey.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is to lead with passion and purpose. In education, passion is essential. It is not something everyone naturally has, but it is necessary for success. Whether working with children or adults, you must have a genuine desire to teach, along with patience, understanding, and consistency.
In domestic violence advocacy, the work is deeply personal to me, as I am a survivor myself. It is a sensitive topic that many people find difficult to discuss, but it is also a critical one. When I share my story, people often express sympathy, but I remind them there is no need to apologize. My experience, though painful, became a lesson that shaped my purpose.
I believe God allowed me to go through that experience so I could use my testimony to help others. My mission is to educate and empower women and men to recognize warning signs, find the strength to leave unsafe situations, and remain on a path of safety, healing, and restoration.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is that domestic violence is still a topic many people avoid discussing, which can limit awareness, outreach, and access to support services. The pandemic reduced in-person advocacy and speaking opportunities, which made it harder to connect directly with individuals and communities in need.
At the same time, social media and cultural pressures can greatly influence self-worth and relationships, especially among younger generations. This makes it even more important to provide honest, grounded, and supportive mentorship. These challenges also create opportunities to expand education, increase awareness, and use both in-person and digital platforms to reach and empower more people.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value to me in both my work and personal life is authenticity, being true to who I am and recognizing my own worth. In a world influenced heavily by social media and external expectations, I focus on staying grounded in my identity and not allowing outside pressures to define me.
I also strongly believe in resilience and perseverance. Despite challenges that could have discouraged me, I chose to keep moving forward. I see myself as someone who refuses to give up, no matter the circumstances, and I encourage others to become their own source of strength and motivation. So I remind myself and others: keep going, don’t allow things to tear you down, and be your own hero.
Integrity is another core value that guides me. I lead with honesty, purpose, and accountability, and I am intentional about ensuring that my choices align with my faith and my relationship with God.
I am my hero!
