About Nina
Nina Hernandez serves as a Team Lead at Bank of America, where she oversees the dock management team and the check deposit team, managing a staff of five people. With 20 years of experience in the industry, her daily responsibilities include conducting QA reviews, tracking weekly production, handling month-end tasks, and leading numerous meetings while providing comprehensive support to her team members. She takes pride in having built two processes from the ground up during her career, a mobile notary process and a doc review process, both of which remain in active use. Nina holds a notary license and a phlebotomy license in addition to completing high school and some college coursework, though she does not hold a degree. She values building rapport, trust, and open communication with her team, fostering high morale and creating a positive work environment at Bank of America. As a leader who mentors her staff and leads by example, she emphasizes the importance of knowing one's worth and advocating for women to take front-line roles in their careers.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't ever think it's awkward to talk about money like raises. Know your worth.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always be at the front row, at the front line. As women, we sometimes fall short because men are given the upper hand with promotions. I want their voices heard. They are just as equally as important as anybody else, men or women.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Having reliable staff has been a challenge in the past, but now I have a wonderful team.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Building a rapport with your team, trust, communication, making sure the morale is up, making sure that Bank of America is a fun place to work and give all 100%.
